Conferences and Conventions
The GCSSEPM and the GCSSEPM Foundation are deeply involved in advancing the state-of-the-art in and around the Gulf of Mexico basin through participation in the two major events in the Gulf of Mexico geologic community. These are our sponsorship of the annual Bob F. Perkins Research Conference and the cosponsorship of the annual Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies convention (GCAGS).
The Section and the Foundation have been hosting the world-renowned Bob F. Perkins Research Conferences in Houston since 1980. The Bob F. Perkins Conferences are special in that each year there is a single focus issue. The conferences attract authors and researchers who present the latest thinking in subjects such as deep-water sedimentation, salt tectonics, and many other challenging subjects.
The GCSSEPM has been cosponsoring the annual convention with GCAGS at various Gulf Coast cities since 1953.
